Campus History


Centura first began training individuals for new careers in Norfolk, Virginia, in 1977, and over the years, it continued to expand its training options and campus locations. In 2001, our parent company, Employment Services, Inc., planned to open its tenth business/technical school this one in Orlando, Florida. The school opened its doors as Polytechnic Institute of America in 2002. In 2008, the school's name was changed to Centura Institute.

Programs Available

Medical Assistant Diploma

This focused diploma program provides theoretical knowledge and laboratory scenarios of the necessary medical skills, as well as an introduction to basic front office procedures. Both day and night classes are offered, and full-time students can graduate in as little as a year.


Practical Nursing Diploma

The practical nursing diploma program provides the skills and qualifications needed to administer bedside care. Graduate with the knowledge necessary to apply for licensure in the State of Florida. Both day and night classes are offered, and full-time students can graduate in as little as 15 months.


Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Diploma

The HVAC diploma program offers hands-on instruction on installation and maintenance of residential and light commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration units. Both day and night classes are offered, and full-time students can graduate in only a year.
